So I made
these a few weeks ago. I know food doesn't always turn out the same as they look in the magazine, but they look straight up uncooked in the Bon Appetit photograph, as you will see on the bottom. Normally, I really do not try to compare non-desserts to their photographs and I don't care if cookbooks don't have pictures, but really, the cakes look ridiculous and impossibly cooked.
Also, one of the ingredients was "leaves from pea tendrils." You tell me who the fuck has those.

This is how small my kitchen counter is, and this is what it looks like when I am prepping. Jack Daniels makes me sick, so that is most definitely Adam's.

Lentil cake mixture in sunlight!

Why prep work pays off the next day.
|
No, really, these do not look cooked. At all.
I served the cakes with a spicy cauliflower spinach soup inspired by a recipe from
Suvir Suran's American Masala, purchased at one of
Housing Works thrift shops. And by inspired, I mean I had 3/10 ingredients and winged it.
