With a new job, comes a new office, a brand new part of New York, and most importantly, a billion more lunch options - like
Korilla, which I can frequent every Monday if I wanted, based off their current schedule.
I've been to Korilla, a Korean food truck, three times now and have only ever gotten the chosun bowl, with either bulgogi or tofu. They do burritos and tacos, and I've had Korean tacos before at the
Kimchi Taco Truck, but Korean burritos sound kind of gross as fuck to me. Maybe because I hate cheese most of the time, and the thought of all this goodness wrapped in a flour tortilla makes me want to yack a little. I'll stick with my bowl, thank you very much. The rice has been so/so all three times (slightly too undercooked), and they don't have chopsticks (?!), but overall, thumbs up. Their tofu was delicious, and I particularly like the cucumber kimchi.
What is pictured above is the chosun bowl with bulgogi, white rice, different kimchis, cucumber, topped with "Korean hot sauce" which tastes like less thick version of gochuchang but still crazy spicy. Give me kimchi or give me death. Five hours later and my mouth is still tingling a little.
Also, when people ask, "what is kimchi?" or say "I don't want anything spicy," they should just be directed to a fucking Applebee's. The food should be fermented, salty, tangy and SPICY. Your ass should be sweating while you enjoy your meal - sweating from the straight up HEAT.
