Regular pizza is fucking atrocious. It may satisfy some desperate need the moment you stuff your face, but it is disgusting and you feel even worse after eating it. To say I feel the same after eating a bag of potato chips would be a monumental lie because I would never feel this way after downing half a family-sized bag of Herr's sour cream and onion potato chips.
And if this blog could ever really sway from food related topics, I would want to touch upon how deeply I feel about the racism and ignorance, and the difference between the two and how they can tie very closely to one another and have terrible consequences on people of color and minorities - but perhaps I could always tie that into ethnic food which is very widely accepted today (oh wow, which one of my white friends can say Korean BBQ?) and wasn't so much when I was in middle school, and then tie that into which of my white friends would get oh so touchy when I would address this subject with them.
Welcome to food and culture, everyone.

Sardines!!
Whole grain spaghetti tossed with rehydrated sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and anchovies.
Anchovies are amazing. Why didn't I know this before?

Chocolate French Bread
I really wanted a chocolate croissant and had to think quick. What did I have? A bowl of the Master Recipe from Artisan Bread proofing in the fridge for over a week, cocoa powder, and milk chocolate chips.
What will happen? French bread with a weird cocoa flavor and even weirder chocolate chunks? OR An amazing Tuesday night treat?
I'm scared.

Late Night Pizza
I made the Master Recipe from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day on Sunday, and it's been proofing in a bowl in the fridge since then. I put the grill pan on high, turned the broiler on high, and rolled out a mini-pie for myself. I grilled both sides of the dough, slathered on some homemade tomato sauce (which is one of those things that will never taste better from a jar), tossed on fresh mozz, and then let it finish in the broiler for a minute.
Took about the same time as your average frozen tv dinner. And much fucking faster than making a loaf of bread from a book that is the ultimate lie.
This has been posted in Milkshake Busters too.
p.s. You know there is a specific line in my lease about NOT using knives directly on the counters? Because there is.
