Below is a picture of a beautiful leek. I purchased a bundle when I made Jamie Oliver's Simplest Chicken and Leek Stew last week, which was delicious and as simple as it claimed. I pretty much followed the recipe, except I may have used only half a teaspoon of Dijon mustard instead of two full teaspoons. There is something about Dijon mustard that is a little much for me and even when it is supposed to be subtle, I feel like it is a punch in the face.
I used to really hate all condiments except for ketchup, and it is still probably mostly true. Mayonnaise makes me want to throw up all over place. Why would egg yolks and oil be remotely intriguing to anyone who wanted to LIVE? Sorry, folks.

Roast Chicken and Vegetables
One of the easiest and most impressive dishes to make for people is a roast chicken and vegetables. After rinsing and drying the chicken, I rub it with some butter, about a tablespoon, and season it with salt and pepper. That is it. Sometimes I will stuff the inside with some garlic and lemon, but that's the extent of the wild things I do to a small chicken.
I always roast the same kind of vegetables when I am making it with chicken - sweet potatoes, red potatoes, carrots and onions - and again, like the chicken, keep it simple. Toss it in some olive oil, salt and pepper and you can call it a day.
Happy Friday Night Dinner.
