What's happening right now in Japan is absolutely devastating and saddening, and I am just grateful my friend, who has been living in Japan on and off (mostly on) for four years, has come home for the time being, for the sake of his family and everyone's sanity. I like to assume my language partner, Yuko, from Kobe is alive and fine and her family safe, but I don't know.
It's hard to write about food and how I am going to make a chicken and leek stew this week when this breaks my heart every day because it only gets worse.
